A Note From Cason's Equipment to Our Home Standby Generator Customers

To ensure your generator runs properly in the event of a power outage we would like to remind you about Oil Checks and Status Lights.

    Oil and Oil Checks

Be sure to have extra oil for your unit on hand. Most units use 5W-30 Synthetic oil but consult your owner's manual for information on your model, if unavailable, please contact us.

In the event of an outage be sure to check the oil in your generator after the first 24 hours of run-time and every 12 hours of run-time thereafter. If you are unable to check the oil during extended run times, please contact us to prevent damage to your generator.

    Status Lights

A word about status lights: in most circumstances, if your generator has been exercising weekly, it should operate properly in the event of a power outage. If you don't know if your generator is exercising weekly, the status lights can help to determine the operational status.

Green light means your generator is ready and operational.

Yellow light means your generator is operational and should function during a power outage; however, it is due for service. This could mean an oil change is necessary or the battery is low. Please contact us if your yellow light is on.

Red light means your generator is non-operational and will not operate during a power outage. Please contact us immediately for service.

It is very important your standby generator is accessible in the event emergency service or scheduled maintenance is needed.  We ask a clear path be available to the unit from the driveway to allow the technician access to service the unit.

Units not accessible to the technician will not be able to be serviced. If an unsuccessful service attempt is made, the technician will leave a notice requesting you to contact our service department once the unit has been cleared.

We understand you have many things to prepare for when weather emergencies strike and hope these reminders help you to ensure your generator continues to operate properly in the event of an outage.

We appreciate your cooperation and assistance in keeping your home protected.
